The Warehouse
Overview
After a 20-year absence, we revived the iconic Warehouse Kiwi in a five-part episodic series, designed to act like entertainment rather than advertising.
The series follows Kiwi awakening from a coma and attempting to navigate a very different New Zealand from the one they remember, before finally making their way back home to The Warehouse.
The campaign began with missing person posters throughout the country. A hotline fronted by Mike Minogue generated more than 100 tips from the public, with reported sightings of a confused Kiwi in a hospital gown surfacing everywhere from Te Atatu to Dargaville.
Along the way, Kiwi encounters a cast of familiar local faces, including Mike McRoberts, Suzanne Paul, Harold the Giraffe, David Correos, Maria Williams and Mai FM’s Randy Sjafrie. Each meeting helps ground the bird in modern Aotearoa. Throughout the series, audiences will discover a range of hidden Easter eggs, from references to the Country Calendar theme and Suzanne Paul’s iconic ‘luminous spheres’, through to a gentle tribute to the much-loved Goodnight Kiwi.
