Overview

For the first time ever in 2022, female rugby players got their moment to play on the grand stage. The first Super Rugby Aupiki tournament was due to kick off and as major sponsor of the tournament, 2degrees saw an opportunity to continue their fight for fair.

This time, we were fighting for the one-in-three girls who are forced into retirement aged 12 after experiencing inequality in our national sport.

2degrees pledged thousands of dollars in grants to improve facilities, and provide opportunities for young female rugby players across the country. And we captured New Zealand’s attention by casting real 12 year olds who are retiring this season and telling their stories.

Thanks to Kyree Rakena, Isla-Coco Hepi, Maraea-lilly Pu-tamainu, Tayla Peters, Leila Erick, Jacinda Marshall and Eden Clyma for sharing their experiences with us.
